Oxygen gas is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and has a concentration of 20.95% by volume in the Earth’s atmosphere. All elements combine directly with oxygen gas to form oxides except the inert gases. Oxygen gas is principally shipped as a non-liquefied gas at pressures of 2000 psig (138.9 bar) or above. Oxygen gas is used in the medical industry, deep sea diving, metal cutting, welding, semiconductor processes, steel industries and in the production of synthesis gas from coalrities.
